The niPOC (Non-invasive Product of Conception) test is an advanced non-invasive genetic test that uses a blood sample from the mother to determine whether a miscarriage was caused by a chromosomal abnormality.
The test analyzes 24 chromosomes and identifies:
1. Sample collection: A 7–10 ml peripheral blood sample from the mother is collected into a special Streck Tube, which is part of the Igenomix collection kit.
2. Timing of sample collection: The blood sample should be collected before the fetal tissue evacuation. If pharmacological treatment is used for evacuation, the blood should be drawn before the administration of the medication.
3. Sample collection and transport: The sample is sent to the Igenomix laboratory, where it is analyzed using next-generation sequencing (NGS).
4. Results: Results are usually available within 7 working days from receipt of the sample at the laboratory.
